This piece started as a drawing, from a live model, using only two pastel colors. When I finished it in my studio I began seeing interesting shapes within the patterns of shading and drawing. I decided to "indulge" my fascination and outline these shapes. The patterning evoked images of the fracture patterns I have seen in nature ( in rock formations, sheets of ice, etc.) which I find mesmerizing. The pose, along with the fracture pattern, brought dream imagery to mind.
