This piece started as a drawing, from a live model, using only three pastel colors. When I finished it in my studio I was captivated by the shapes of the light and shadow areas, and the corresponding warm and cool tones. I pushed the interplay of these shapes, as well as the abrupt transition between warm and cool tones, lending abstract imagery and mood to a quiet pose.
